Certain shapes lend themselves to being filled by wondrous panels of glass which Virginia creates for me. Once I have assessed and supported the frame I send it off to her. She uses antique hand-blown glasses, jewels and bevelled glasses and abstractly painted textures and patterns are fired in the kiln for permanence. Using the collage method she arranges the lead came and fused pieces of recycled glass. At times this glass can simply be suspended from the piece but in other instances must be welded into place creating a unique juxtaposition of glass and metal transforming into it’s final kinetic, sculptural form.
